Arcane Drifter is a Real-Time Card Battler with Action RPG and Roguelite elements. As the Drifter, you arrive in a once-thriving mining town, now overshadowed by despair and the stench of death. Children have gone missing, those who venture into the mine never return, and the ground pulses and quakes with an otherworldly menace...
Investigate the mine.
Find the missing townsfolk.
Save the town.
Fast-paced active time card battles that require preparation, quick thinking and strategy.
Unique, streamlined deck-building experience where each item contains a set of cards, equipping an item adds cards to your deck (unequipping removes them) and you carry your deck into battle.
Highly replayable, randomly generated node-based maps, that reduces friction between battles and encourages exploration.
Unlike traditional card games, battles in Arcane Drifter are not governed by turns. Cards are played from both enemies and players into a queue where they charge up and unleash an effect. While in the queue, cards are at their most vulnerable as the opposing side has an opportunity to destroy them using a counter spell.
At any given time you have up to two cards in hand and two available stashes. When you use card, the unchosen card is sent to the bottom of the deck and two new cards are drawn. There is no built-in way to skip a card, you can stash it or use it.
To understand the combat in Arcane Drifter you should learn the lifecycle of a card.
Here is a card's journey:
It goes into your hand (from your deck.)
It get's played into the Queue.
It charges up. (..like an ATB in Final Fantasy)
It resolves. (Becomes a fireball, lightning bolt, counterspell, etc)
It cools down for a time
It returns to the deck.
